We started with a notebook, a phone, and a business owner counting cash by hand
Walk into most small retail businesses (a café, a bar, a neighborhood store) and you'll still find the same thing: a paper notebook for tabs, a calculator for the counter, and an owner who has no real idea what sold, who sold it, or where the money actually went until they close up and start adding numbers by hand.
That's not a failure of the people running these businesses. It's a failure of the tools available to them. The POS systems built for small retail were either too expensive, too rigid, or built for a market that doesn't look like this one.
Kyynd exists to fix that.

A loyalty system that's isolated to the branch that earned it, unless the owner chooses otherwise. Points are a real liability, and real businesses need real control over them.
Take money the way the business already does.
Cash, transfer or card, through the payment provider the owner already uses, not one we force on them.
Run more than one location without losing the plot.
One business, many branches, each with its own staff, its own stock and its own trading day. All of it visible from one place when the owner needs the big picture, and locked down to just what matters when a branch manager needs to run their shift.
Why we're building it this way
Four decisions we made early, and intend to keep
Real accountability, not surveillance
Attributing a sale to the staff member who made it isn't about watching over anyone's shoulder. It's about giving an owner an honest answer to “what happened today”, and giving good staff the credit for the work they did.
Owned by the business, not by us
Loyalty points, discount codes and payment terminals are all configured by the business owner, using their own accounts and their own rules. Kyynd is the infrastructure. The business is still the business.
Built to grow without being rebuilt
Every part of Kyynd, down to the database itself, is designed so that a feature we add next year doesn't mean tearing out what we built this year. Small businesses don't have time to wait through a migration. Neither do we.
Where we are
Early, genuinely early
Right now, we're building the foundation: the core counter, staff accounts, branch management, loyalty and real payment integration. All of it tested first with the businesses willing to run it in a real shop, on a real trading day, with real customers.
We'd rather ship something small that actually works than something big that doesn't.
Who's building it
Kyynd is being built by a single engineer who's spent years writing the software behind mobile products, now turning that toward a problem that's overdue for better tools: the everyday business of running a small shop well.
No large team, no big-company playbook, just a product being built carefully, with the people who'll actually use it involved from the start.
